Safety Reviews
Safety reviews are vital during the various engineering phases of a new installation or for major modifications of an existing installation. In the process industry the following types of reviews are commonly applied: HAZID (Hazard identification)
HAZOP (Hazard and Operability studies)
HAZAN (Hazard analysis)
Versatec can prepare and lead your Safety Reviews by supplying an experienced chairman and secretary. The results are presented using specialized software (PHAPro). The PHAPro software facilitates progress discussions and allows quick-and-easy compilation of reports.
Safety Audits
Versatec performs safety audits on full installations or on parts of an installation. Versatec also performs safety management system audits and implements safety management systems.
Safety & Health Documents (Safety Cases)Versatec has experience in preparing Safety & Health (S&H) documents for onshore and offshore facilities. Emphasis is on clearly structured documents, making it logical and easy to read. Versatec has prepared S&H documents on the basis of the Dutch SSM and English HSE regulations.
Quantitative Risk Analysis
Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) is used to demonstrate the risk exposure to people, assets and the environment. The QRA further provides relevant information on the acceptability of the risk. The QRA is normally a part of the Safety & Health Document but can also be performed separately.
Fire and Explosion Risk Assessments
A Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) is used to evaluate the risk (frequency x consequence) from ignited gas and/or condensate leaks or spills. The widely accepted PHAST software is used to simulate gas dispersion, and jet-flash fires and pool-flash fires. Impact from explosion overpressures can be evaluated as well.
Safety Integrity Levels / Reliability Analysis
Versatec can analyse the reliability of safety critical elements by defining the Safety Integrity Levels (SIL). The SIL of a safety device quantifies the probability that this device will perform its safety function when required to do so. Versatec has access to reliability data obtained from certified sources.
Development of Safety Management Systems
Versatec assists in the development of Safety Management Systems including Permit to Work and Training.
Environmental Studies and Audits
Versatec performs environmental impact studies in which we address the potential outcome of an activity in the defined environment.
